Joy Sparker

Katie's latest project is not just a standout in her portfolio; it's her current favorite, and for good reason. Collaborating with this particular client was not only engaging but also incredibly enjoyable. What's truly special is the journey both designer and client embarked on together. Through the process, valuable lessons were learned about the significance of crafting a space that exudes warmth and personal resonance, not just a cut and paste of a room found in someone else’s photo.

From the outset, the client expressed a desire for a space brimming with joy, infused with a refined yet vibrant palette that felt lived-in and loved. Central to their vision was the aspiration to create an environment where their two young daughters could thrive amidst a backdrop of beauty and comfort.

In the living room, a transformation began with reimagining the layout and shifting focal points. This also included wainscoting, grasscloth wallpaper, new lighting and completely trimming out a very tall feature wall. Utilizing existing pieces and repurposing nursery recliners with durable, upscale fabrics; the room strikes a balance between elegance and practicality. Custom drapery, vibrant artwork, and carefully curated accents inject personality and charm, while bespoke rugs and revived antique furniture add a touch of luxury and nostalgia.

Adjacent to the living room, the breakfast area radiates joy with its scalloped rug, nature-inspired mural, and thoughtfully selected lighting fixtures. Meanwhile, the entryway underwent a remarkable transformation from dull (and a little dark) to inviting, featuring personalized touches like oversized portraits of the children, cherished family heirlooms, and a gorgeous feature light fixture.

Ultimately, this project epitomizes the family's warm hospitality and effervescent spirit. It's a space where every corner tells a story and where every detail reflects the love and care poured into its creation. Indeed, once you step inside, you may find it hard to leave.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
